Biblical Definition Of
CONVERSION
Although the word ‘conversion’ may be rare in the Bible, the idea is common enough. People are converted when they turn from darkness to light, from Satan to God, from dead idols to the living Christ (Acts 15:3; 26:18; 1 Thess 1:9-10; cf. Matt 13:15; 2 Cor 3:16). Their changed lives are the outward demonstration of that inward turning which the Bible more commonly calls repentance (Acts 3:19; Acts 26:20). Through repentance, believing sinners receive the salvation of God. They are born anew; they become new people (2 Cor 5:17).
