Jesus’ Entry into Jerusalem
Matthew 21
Matthew 21:1 And when they had drawn near to Jerusalem, and had arrived at Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
Matthew 21:2 saying to them: “Go into the town that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Release them, and lead them to me.
Matthew 21:3 And if anyone will have said anything to you, say that the Lord has need of them. And he will promptly dismiss them.”
Matthew 21:4 Now all this was done in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, saying,
Matthew 21:5 “Tell the daughter of Zion: Behold, your king comes to you meekly, sitting on a donkey and on a colt, the son of one accustomed to the yoke.”
Matthew 21:6 Then the disciples, going out, did just as Jesus instructed them.
Matthew 21:7 And they brought the donkey and the colt, and they laid their garments on them, and they helped him sit upon them.
Matthew 21:8 Then a very numerous crowd spread their garments on the way. But others cut branches from the trees and scattered them on the way.
Matthew 21:9 And the crowds that preceded him, and those that followed, cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!”
Matthew 21:10 And when he had entered into Jerusalem, the entire city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
Matthew 21:11 But the people were saying, “This is Jesus, the Prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
