The book Of The Bible 2 Chronicles

Second Chronicles is a continuation of the history that looks back from the fifth century BCE to an idealized past of the united monarchy under Solomon and to the former grandeur of worship in the newly constructed temple in Jerusalem. The first nine chapters of 2 Chronicles contain the history of the reign of King Solomon. The remaining chapters of the second book contain the history of the separated kingdom of Judah to the time of the return from the Babylonian exile.

A passage from 2 Chronicles is provided in the Roman Missal at the liturgical celebration of the Dedication of a Church. The passage describes the placement of the ark in the new temple built by Solomon in Jerusalem (5.6-10, 13; 6.2). Also, the final verses of 2 Chronicles are read on the Fourth Sunday of Lent during Year B (36.14-17, 19-23) giving the Chronicler’s interpretation of the exile followed by the proclamation of King Cyrus that anticipates the hope of a coming restoration.
