His Grace Prakash Mallavarapu Appointed Archbishop of Visakhapatnam

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Most Rev. Prakash Mallavarapu, till now Bishop of Vijayawada and Apostolic Administrator of Eluru Diocese, as the new Archbishop of Visakhapatnam on accepting the resignation of Most Rev. Mariadas Kagithapu from the pastoral governance of the Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam. This was made public in Rome on Tuesday, 3 July, 2012. Born in 1949 Bishop Prakash was ordained a priest in 1979 and was appointed Bishop of Vijayawada on 22nd July 1998.
